Our church has a strong heritage of missions education and involvement in missions work. Individually and as a church, our members have been “on mission for Christ” in our community and around the world. Our WMU has provided strong leadership in emphasizing seasons of prayer and giving for home, international, and state missions. Our Baptist Men have provided invaluable service in leading our church’s participation in hands-on missions activities.
In recent years, the Missions Council’s role in coordinating our missions activities has been expanded. They have provided leadership for our church’s involvement in building two Habitat for Humanity houses, in an “Inasmuch Ministry” to help members of our church and community with small maintenance, repair and cleanup projects, in sponsoring an American Red Cross Bloodmobile which collected 85 units in January 2000, and in coordinating our flood-relief assistance to seven families in Grifton, N.C.
Our Lord clearly teaches that we are to follow His example of ministry to those in need. There are many opportunities for us to let Him minister through us to meet their needs. May we be faithful to His call.
